I for one at times think mysticism is good but only a small amount of the time.

Two fairly uncommon bilingual as Gaeilge things I saw today (October 2025)

The first new to me cool bilingual thing I saw today is a photo of an apartment block Bowden Court in Swords which is up for an award. Fingal County Council posted on social media about it today and what struck out to me as well as the nice architecture is that both the as Gaeilge and as Béarla names are displayed on the entrance pillars to the block. This has not been the regular trend for new apartment blocks in Ireland traditionally although things are probably improving – and for all I know this policy might be in effect on all new apartment blocks in Fingal and elsewhere in Ireland today.

It hasn't traditionally been the regular procedure though so the bilingual display struck out to me agus is maith liom é.

The second other cool bilingual as Gaeilge/Béarla new thing I came across today was this Presidential Election letter from Catherine Connolly/her campaign I got in the post today. Is maith liom í freisin de bharr go bhfuil sé dátheangach beagnach 100%. 😊

This is not the first bilingual election letter / leaflet I have received over the years but I like the way that it is pretty much 100% bilingual And that Catherine Connolly may very well be our next President! So there will, if she gets elected, be more good news on the as Gaeilge front over the next several years – not that I support her 100% on all as Gaeilge policy issues at the same time mind.

I hope Politics.ie doesn't come back online but... — DJP (2025)

I found the site more negative than positive but not totally negative as I wouldn't have posted on it if I

did. I posted on it from the year it started in 2003 to when it went offline in the last month.

Anyway here are seemingly the only threads I contributed to on it which are archived.

1) Official Languages Act (2003) review- 2011-2014 (This thread was actually still going this year with

an  updated heading)

2) Tionscadal ar líne i leith ainmneacha i nGaeilge d'fhorbairtí cónaithe nua (This thread was also

actually  going this year with an updated heading again)

b) Here are another couple of pages from the thread from 2021 saved separately.

The site was last crawled by Wayback Machine last month and the latest 3 pages of the Gaeilge forum can be seen starting from December of last year on the site although generally or 99% of the  threads contents have not  been archived.

The only 2 forums I really liked and posted much on on the site was the Culture and Community forum

 and the Gaeilge forum.
