This news goes back around six weeks but I only found out about it tonight after a Google and ChatGPT
search.
Yikes!
The Irish Dáil has a good few Irish speakers. The proportion of Irish-speaking councillors is a lot smaller
and I believe more indicative of the true proportion of Irish speakers in Ireland. I don't pay as much
interest to the Seanad so am not sure about it off the top of my head in relation to cainteoirí Gaeilge but
the proportion of Irish speakers elected to it has been traditionally a lot less than in the Dáil I believe.
I think it is great the way Irish-speaking politicians can contribute to the Irish-language media.
